What is the Prompt Medicine™ Foundation Module?
The Prompt Medicine™ Foundation Module is a 4-hour online CME course for physicians, residents, trainees and medical students. It covers the safe and effective use of artificial intelligence in clinical practice across 6 units and 30 video lectures, including pre-test, mid-video knowledge checks, post-test, and an end-of-course survey.
Is this a course on AI in medicine?
Yes. The Foundation Module is a course on the safe and effective use of artificial intelligence in clinical practice: what AI can and cannot do in medicine, how it produces its answers, where it fails, and how clinical judgment and accountability remain with the physician. Prompt Medicine™ is the name of the framework it teaches, not a different subject.
What does “Prompt Medicine” mean?
The term was coined by Dr. Muhammad Shamim in the first edition of Prompt Medicine™, derived from prompt engineering — the practice of framing a question to an AI system precisely enough to get a reliable answer. Applied to medicine it describes a disciplined way for clinicians to work with AI: structured interaction, controlled use and intentional prompting, with verification of every output and the final decision remaining the physician’s.
Is the Prompt Medicine™ course accredited for CME?
The course is not registered with any national or international CME accreditation body. It is organized according to standard CME guidelines and provides a formal certificate of completion. Participants wishing to claim CME credit are responsible for submitting the certificate to their respective national or institutional accreditation authority.
Who is the course instructor?
The course is designed and delivered by Dr. Muhammad Shamim, MBBS, FCPS, FACS — Assistant Professor of Surgery and Academic Consultant, and the author of 'Prompt Medicine™' (2nd Edition).
What topics does the course cover?
The course covers 6 units: (1) AI and the Modern Physician, (2) What AI Can and Cannot Do in Clinical Medicine, (3) Clinical Reasoning, Responsibility, and Accountability, (4) Risks of AI in Clinical Practice, (5) Ethical and Medico-Legal Boundaries of AI Use, and (6) How Doctors Should Think With AI — the Cognitive Framework.
How do I enroll in the Prompt Medicine™ course?
You can enroll at pmcourse.shamim.pro. Select the Foundation Module, complete the payment via bank transfer or cryptocurrency, and upload your receipt. Once verified by the course administrator, you will receive an access code by email to begin the course.
What score is required to pass the post-test?
A minimum score of 70% is required on the post-test to earn the certificate of completion.
What is the Assist–Verify–Decide framework?
The Assist–Verify–Decide model is the core cognitive framework taught in Prompt Medicine™. It guides physicians to use AI as an assistant, verify its output against clinical evidence and patient data, and retain final decision-making authority — preserving clinical judgment and patient safety.
